With the advent of laser dentistry, patients who have cavities no longer need to hear the noise and feel the vibration of mechanical high-speed drills.

There’s a new dental laser in town, and unlike previous lasers, this one doesn’t generate heat, so the potential for damage to the nerve of the tooth (which would require root canal therapy) is gone. This laser is called the DELight. Here’s how it works — The new DELight laser emits a specialized beam of light that targets and destroys dental decay. Pretty cool, huh?
